A Day in the Life
Each preschool day at Recess flows naturally between moments of learning, movement, and rest. The rhythm is calm and consistent, giving children time to explore, create, and connect with teachers and friends.
Morning Welcome & Exploration
Children arrive ready to begin their day with open-ended play and gentle morning routines. This time helps them ease into the classroom, explore materials at their own pace, and connect with teachers and friends.
Guided Learning & Creativity
Teachers lead small-group activities that nurture early academics, language, and creative expression. Through art, stories, and problem-solving, children learn to ask questions, think critically, and express their ideas confidently.
Movement & Play
Active time builds strength, coordination, and teamwork. From yoga and music to bouncy games, movement supports both healthy bodies and emotional balance.
Rest & Reflection
Midday quiet time gives children a chance to rest their bodies and minds. For some, it’s a nap; for others, it’s soft music or quiet reading — helping everyone recharge and return refreshed.
Afternoon Projects & Enrichment
The day ends with hands-on exploration in art, science, and cultural themes. These projects encourage curiosity, persistence, and collaboration — preparing children for kindergarten and a lifelong love of learning.

FAQs
How is Recess different from a traditional preschool?
Recess blends the structure of a preschool with the flexibility modern families need. Our small groups, calm classrooms, and play-based curriculum nurture creativity, independence, and social-emotional growth — all without rigid schedules or overwhelming environments.
What will my child learn during the day?
Preschoolers learn through guided exploration — building early literacy, math, science, and problem-solving skills through hands-on projects, storytelling, and creative play. Each activity is designed to prepare children for kindergarten while keeping the joy of learning alive.
How do you prepare children for kindergarten?
Our approach emphasizes school readiness across academics, social skills, and emotional confidence. Children practice routines like following directions, collaborating in groups, managing emotions, and expressing ideas — so they enter kindergarten curious, capable, and confident.
What are your teacher qualifications and ratios?
Each classroom is led by qualified early childhood educators trained in child development, health, and safety. Our ratios stay intentionally low to ensure every child receives attentive, individualized support throughout the day.
How do you support each child’s unique pace and personality?
Every child learns differently, and we celebrate that. Teachers observe and tailor activities to meet each child where they are — encouraging independence, empathy, and self-expression in a nurturing environment that builds confidence and connection. Additionally, as a small-class (max of 12 children), we’re able to provide much more hands on attention than other preschools.
A calm start to a lifetime of learning
Recess Preschool blends early education, creativity, and connection into an environment children love. With licensed teachers,
flexible scheduling, and our ReadyPlay curriculum, every day builds confidence, curiousity, and joy.
