FAQ
How much does Recess cost?
Membership costs $150 per month with an hourly charge for FlexCare usage and additional cost if you enroll is enrichment classes. If you were to use Recess for 4 hours per week, you may expect to pay around $600/month.
Can I schedule time for my child even if I’m not a member?
Membership is required to use Recess. As a small-class premium service we have limited memberships available to keep the group size small and ensure maximum fun and safety for everyone.
How can I become a member?
We’re currently under construction and are accepting applications for pre-enrollment and waitlist. Use the form on the ‘Become a Member’ page to get started.
What ages do you accept?
Our goal is to provide a flexible childcare option no matter what the age, but generally from 6 weeks to 12 years of age!
How many children are in a class together?
Recess is a small group child care option with no more than twelve 12 children in the facility at any time.
Can I just drop in with my children any time of day?
For the safety and convenience of everyone, all care is scheduled using our members app. To ensure availabiity, we recommend members book as far in advance as possible; however, pending open slots, you could book as late as one-hour before drop off.
How do I schedule time for my child?
Members have access to the Recess App, which allows you to schedule child care. The app has two booking modes – choosing a specific time window (ex: 1pm-3pm on Saturday) or choosing a time block (ex: 3 hours on Saturday).
Can my child stay the entire day?
At this moment in time, we are limiting care to 4 hours per day per child, but may increase this in the future as we develop a better understanding of needs.
Is Recess a daycare or a learning center?
Recess is something completely new – we call it FlexCare! We believe parents and kids deserve a break, so we offer convenient, modern facilities built around safety, fun, and learning so that kids can enjoy time away from home with peers while experiencing new activities through guided play.
What if I’m running early or late for pickup?
Members can arrive as early or as late as 10 minutes within their scheduled time without any additional fees. It is important for legal compliance that we maintain strict staff-to-child ratios, so we do ask that you try your best not to be late.
How many Recess locations are there?
We are currently under construction on our first location, with five more locations opening in Philadelphia by 2025. We are hoping to expand to many more locations in the future!
What type of safety and security measures do you offer at Recess?
The facility is under constant video monitoring to ensure the safety of our children and the trust of our parents. All surfaces are disinfected daily, and all staff have at least four years of child care expertise, safety and medical certification, and behavioral training. There are robust systems and processes in place to ensure the safety of your children.
