How much does Recess cost?
Membership costs $99 per month with an hourly charge for usage. If you were to use Recess for 4 hours per week, you may expect to pay around $600/month.
Can I schedule time for my child even if I’m not a member?
Membership is required to use Recess. As a small-class premium service we have limited memberships available to keep the group size small and ensure maximum fun and safety for everyone.
How can I become a member?
We’re currently under construction and are accepting applications for our waitlist. If you join our waitlist, you’ll receive email updates about our openings as well as the great features and perks our members will experience!
What ages do you accept?
We currently care for children from 2 years and older; however, pending the membership needs we may provide care for younger ages as well! Our goal is to provide a flexible childcare option no matter what the age!
How many children are in a class together?
Recess is a small group child care option with no more than twelve 12 children in the facility at any time.
Can I just drop in with my children any time of day?
For the safety and convenience of everyone, we recommend that all care is scheduled up to 24 hours in advance. In the near future, we intend on being able to take short-notice bookings depending on the class size at that time.
How do I schedule time for my child?
Members have access to the Recess App, which allows you to schedule child care for your requested time 24 hours in advance.
Can my child stay the entire day?
At this moment in time, we are limiting care to 4 hours per day per child, but may increase this in the future as we develop a better understanding of needs.
Is Recess a daycare or a learning center?
Recess is both! We believe parents and kids deserve a break, so we offer convenient, modern facilities built around safety, fun, and learning so that kids can enjoy time away from home with peers while experiencing new activities through guided play.
What if I’m running early or late for pickup?
Members can arrive as early or as late as 10 minutes within their scheduled time without any additional fees. It is important for legal compliance that we maintain strict staff-to-child ratios, so we do ask that you try your best not to be late.
How many Recess locations are there?
We are currently under construction, with three locations opening in Philadelphia by 2023. We are hoping to expand to many more locations in the future!
What type of safety and security measures do you offer at Recess?
The facility is under constant video monitoring to ensure the safety of our children and the trust of our parents. All surfaces are disinfected daily, and all staff have at least four years of child care expertise and training.
Additionally, everyone who is aged two and up is required to wear a mask at all times, including children, parents, and staff members, for the safety of everyone involved.
