Why is weekend childcare so hard to find?
Most centers staff for weekday commuters and close Friday evening, leaving the roughly one in six American workers with weekend shifts — nurses, hospitality and retail staff, first responders, gig workers — to improvise with family, sitters, and luck. Weekend care requires a provider that staffs seven days deliberately, which is exactly the model flexible-care centers are built on.
Who uses weekend daycare?
Four groups mainly: weekend-shift workers who need full coverage (see our guides for nurses and hospitality and retail workers); parents catching up on work or study; families handling weekend obligations — weddings, moves, appointments; and, honestly, parents who need a Saturday morning to themselves. What does weekend childcare cost?
At Recess, weekend hours price the same as weekday hours — scheduled weekend days bill as part of your monthly plan, and weekend drop-ins bill at standard FlexCare hourly rates (with sibling and essential-worker discounts).
