Recess partners with New Mom School Philadelphia to bring you their expert-led, age-based postnatal classes — recover, reconnect, and navigate life after baby in community with others going through it too.

Program Overview

Gentle, practical support for life after birth — for you and your baby.

  • • Doctor-recommended classes for babies 0–12 months, plus a Second Time Moms track
  • • Small, age-based groups (10–14 parents) so you're always with families at the same stage
  • • Weekly 90-minute sessions over an 8-week series
  • • Topics include infant sleep, postpartum mental health, feeding, development, and pelvic floor recovery
  • • New series begin every month

All classes are run by New Mom School Philadelphia at their Rittenhouse studio — pick the series that fits your baby's age.

0–3 Months

Newborn Class

The signature 8-week series: transition to motherhood, soothing baby, postpartum anxiety and worry, relationship changes, baby's sleep and development, and the postpartum body.

3–6 Months

Infant Class

Build on your newborn-series foundation as your baby grows — development, feeding, sleep, and your evolving identity as a parent.

6–12 Months

Rising Toddler Class

Navigate mobility, solid foods, shifting sleep, and the big developmental leaps of the second half of year one.

Second Time Moms

A newborn series designed for parents balancing a new baby with a sibling at home — and the unique dynamics of round two.

Free · Weekly

Breastfeeding Support Group

Drop-in feeding support led by a registered dietitian and IBCLC — latch, supply, cluster feeding, pumping, and returning to work.

Dads & Partners Group

A postpartum adjustment support group just for non-birthing parents — a safe space to talk honestly about the hard things and find community.

Recess proudly partners with New Mom School Philadelphia — a nationally recognized postpartum education and community program designed to support expecting and new mothers through their baby's first year. They run the classes; we make sure our families know about them.

Brought to Philadelphia by local mom Eva Almiñana, New Mom School combines evidence-based education with meaningful connection, helping families build the "village" that so many parents are searching for. Small, age-based classes (Newborn, Second-Time Newborn, Infant, and Rising Toddler) are led by experienced instructors and trusted local experts, covering infant sleep, postpartum mental health, feeding, development, pelvic floor recovery, and more.

New class series begin every month. Expecting families are also invited to the complimentary Bumps & Bites event, held monthly to tour the studio, meet other parents, and learn more about the program.
